While the government’s forced passage on the pension reform has given rise to multiple spontaneous gatherings all over France, the 8th arrondissement of Paris is temporarily targeted by assembly bans.

According to information reported on March 18 by AFP, any gathering on the Champs-Elysées as well as on the Place de la Concorde in Paris is temporarily prohibited due to the risk of disturbances to public order and security.

And for good reason, the 8th arrondissement of the capital was the subject of overflows the two evenings which followed the announcement by the government of the use of 49.3 for the pension reform. Over the two consecutive days, the police have indeed made no less than 278 arrests in the sector, according to BFMTV.

“People who try to gather there will be evicted and likely to be fined,” explained the police headquarters.

The government’s forced passage on the pension reform is at the origin of a wave of indignation on a national scale which has resulted in the last two days in the multiplication of rallies from one end of the territory, leading the Central Directorate of Public Security, on which all police stations in France depend, to distribute a note internally in order to encourage the police to “ensure reinforced surveillance of buildings and sensitive public places”.

Simultaneously with the clashes observed in the capital, Lyon was also the subject of nocturnal demonstrations causing overflows. On the night of March 17 to 18, 36 people were arrested while the town hall of the city’s 4th arrondissement was targeted by a trash fire and various damage to the building.
