Actor Sean Penn sat down with some of the police officers who protected lawmakers on the U.S. Capitol last year on Thursday during the fifth public hearing of the House Select Committee investigating the insurgency of January 6.

Penn told CNN he was there to observe and stressed he was “just another citizen.”

The Oscar winner and activist blasted last year’s January 6 uprising when it happened.

“Hell hath no fury like a narcissist despised,” he tweeted at the time, referring to former President Donald Trump:

Caroline Edwards, the first US Capitol policewoman injured in the attack, called the scene as she struggled with the crowd a “war zone”.
