Sadio Mane interrupts Luis Diaz interview to kiss his new Liverpool team-mate after Champions League exploits against Benfica

Liverpool sensation Luis Diaz is already a much-loved figure at Anfield, with Sadio Mane interrupting his post-match interview to take a hug.

The Colombian striker signed from Porto in January for £37.5million but any fears over his price tag were immediately put to rest with a succession of spirited performances.

Fabinho even joined Diaz for a dance

Having scored three goals in six Premier League games, he has also proven the shirt is suitable for Europe’s biggest stage.

Liverpool found themselves 2-1 up against Benfica in their Champions League quarter-final first leg, with their Portuguese opponents finishing strong.

No need for Jurgen Klopp to worry, however, as his Colombia star slipped past his opponents to reach Naby Keita’s through ball.

The 25-year-old rounded Odysseas Vlachodimos and scored to give the Reds a two-goal cushion heading into the second leg.

Proving how quickly he has settled into the club, in a post-match interview where Diaz received the player of the match award, Mane joined him in a warm embrace after being helped by the Colombian to the Reds’ second goal of the game.

And the new boy could go on to have a career at Anfield, just like his 112-goal title-winning Senegalese teammate, according to Jason Cundy.

Everyone loves Diaz!

He told Sports Bar: “Luis Diaz is on a different level. He’s come in and he’s going to be, from what I’ve seen so far, as good as Mane has been for Liverpool.

“I don’t know if I put him on the same plane as Salah, it’s unfair, but what I’ve seen so far (gasp). It’s a brilliant deal.

And Cundy thinks that while Klopp is clearly an incredible manager, he has been helped by exceptional recruitment

Mane netted Liverpool’s second goal against Benfica

“Liverpool over the years has done [so well]he cooed.

“Credit [to them] because they have a brilliant manager, but your transfer goals and your recruitment are absolutely crucial and Liverpool get a big part of that.

“You get the weird that doesn’t work, every team does that, but I have to say, for the most part, Liverpool’s recruitment has been pretty spot on.”
