Russian diplomacy accuses the EU of “investing” in the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine – RT in French

Maria Zakharova believes that the EU is using the candidacy of Ukraine as well as that of Moldova to “contain” Russia, attributing to the Union a strategy of active geopolitical “conquest” of the space of the Community of independent states.
Speaking on June 24 about the European Union’s recent decision to grant Ukraine and Moldova their candidate status for membership, Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova said attributed to Brussels a strategy of “active geopolitical conquest” aimed at the space of the Commonwealth of Independent States, an intergovernmental organization created in 1991 to which nine countries now belong, including Russia and Moldova (Ukraine being withdrawn in 2018).
The senior Russian diplomat denounced the fact that, to do this, all means, “starting with financial and economic instruments and up to military support” were, according to her, implemented. “In the present case, the strict convergence criteria with the EU which apply to the other candidates, such as the rule of law, the fight against corruption, the independence of justice, respect for the rights of the “Man, the protection of national minorities, freedom of expression and the development of a market economy, are quite simply set aside in favor of the political situation”, still judged Maria Zakharova, according to the report of her declaration to this subject.
“The EU is investing even more in the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine”, says Zakharova
And the spokesperson attributed to the European Union a lack of will to prevent wars on the Old Continent: “The EU is investing even more in the pursuit of hostilities in Ukraine, which already, in its new capacity as EU candidate country, will demand with double insistence at the next NATO summit […] an increase in deliveries of arms and military equipment, to be used to kill civilians, destroy civilian infrastructure and shoot at the positions of the Russian armed forces”, can we indeed read in the same report.
Maria Zakharova thus described as “aggressive” such an approach by the European Union, fearing that the latter persists in causing “new fault lines to emerge and deeper crises in Europe as a whole”. “This Brussels policy has nothing to do with the real needs of the people of Ukraine and EU countries. No one in the European Union cares about the real interests of a united and indivisible Europe anymore,” she said.
These remarks by Maria Zakharova come almost simultaneously with a trip by the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, to Azerbaijan, during which he deplored the hostile attitude of the European Union towards his country, warning against an EU- NATO who might want to “wage war” on Russia.
