The storms of the past few days have done great damage to the roofs of the houses. Roofers are therefore in great demand and some companies take advantage of the emergency to carry out interventions at exorbitant prices.

In the hamlet of La Guette (Golden Coast)the roofs have been ripped open by hail, providing an ideal hunting ground for unscrupulous roofers. They are hungry wolves and they come to take advantage of people’s misfortune. (…) I speak on behalf of local craftsmen, it is inadmissible”laments Fabrice Chevalier, roofer. In Gironde, the inhabitants are contacted by ghost companies. “We saw a gentleman who passed by, who told us that he had been ripped off. He paid 2,500 euros, I believe (…) and he couldn’t find the company because it didn’t exist”says Rémi Valuea professional roofer.

Faced with these scams, the authorities call for caution. In the town of Taillan-Médoc (Gironde)the police even organize patrols. In order not to be fooled, you have to check the name of the company, do not advance money for the work and take a good look at the prices before signing an estimate. Another problem for professional roofers: they are overrun and the delays to repair the roofs are getting longer.
