Romelu Lukaku reveals he wants to stay at Inter Milan longer than the duration of his current loan from Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku has admitted he wants to stay at Inter Milan for longer than his current loan spell from Chelsea.

The Belgian has returned to San Siro on a one-season temporary deal after just a year out following a disappointing second stint with the Blues.

Lukaku’s campaign has been hit by injury but that hasn’t deterred him from wanting to extend his stay at the Serie A giants.

Asked about his relationship with Inter fans by Sky Italy, the 29-year-old replied: “Inter fans are really special, for me they are the best in the world.

“Because even if we are in trouble they are always there to help the team. It was a surprise for me, I thought they were mad at me.

“But in the end, they know I always had Inter in my heart. Even if I left, they know I always had Inter in my heart.

“I had conversations with my teammates, with people at the club and they know that I told the truth about why I left.

“Now I’m back and hope to stay in the future. I mean, for me, Inter is worth everything.

Lukaku has made just five appearances in all competitions this season for Inter, scoring two goals and assisting once.

The striker, however, featured in the World Cup as Belgium crashed out in the group stage.

He’s still on the books at Chelsea after signing their record in the summer of 2021.

However, it remains to be seen if he will play more games for the Blues, especially if he intends to stay at Inter.
