Blink and you would have missed it.
But the worlds of tennis and K-pop collided on Roger Federer’s Instagram, of all places, as he posted a photo of himself with K-pop stars Blackpink in Paris.
“My kids said that was a definitive IG post,” the 20-time Grand Slam winner commented and with his likes well over a million, it looks like they were right.
Blackpink – made up of four members, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé – are one of the biggest bands in the world, boasting more YouTube subscribers than any other musical artist and an army of fans known as “Blinks”. – a “black” and “pink” coat rack.
“flash????” Coco Gauff, current world number 7, commented on Federer’s photo while Denis Shapovalov, who reached the third round of this year’s Australian Open, commented: “Hahaha yessss”, alongside an emoji of sunglasses.
Federer, who retired from competitive tennis in September, posted the picture exactly five years after beating Marin Cilic in the Australian Open men’s final – his 20th and final Grand Slam title.
Since retiring, Federer has spent more time in the fashion world, posting photos on Instagram from Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday.
In March, he will join Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to co-chair the 2023 Met Gala alongside singer Dua Lipa and actors Penélope Cruz and Michaela Coel.
