Riverside Police locate a missing toddler, his mother is taken into custody.
Riverside authorities said Sunday that a missing toddler abducted by his mother, who does not have custody of the boy, was found late Saturday night.
Three-year-old Elias Cruz was found safely in Ontario City, Riverside Police said. His mother, Samantha Hernandez, was taken into custody.
Cruz’s disappearance prompted a search by police, who said mother and child were seen walking near Lake Street and Randolph Street. Police said they believe she may be headed for the bottom of the Santa Ana River.
Police said Sunday morning the boy would be sent home.
