Rescue teams help the horse out of the pool

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tennessee (WSMV) – The Williamson County rescue team worked to help a horse out of a swimming pool Thursday afternoon.

Tennessee Equine Hospital and Williamson County Animal Control responded to calls for help after Tonto, the horse, refused to come out of his owner’s swimming pool.

WCS officials said Tonto wanted to stay in the pool, which made it difficult for lifeguards to drag him up the stairs. His owner, rescue workers and a TEH doctor kindly persuade him to climb the stairs.

Crews used rubber airbags and wooden cradles to help Tonta gain traction to climb the pool steps. When he reached the top, crews placed a large diameter garden hose on Tonto’s back to help him up.

Tonto was successfully rescued from the pool and suffered only minor injuries.
