It’s fair to say that Mohamed Salah’s demand for ‘revenge’ in the Champions League didn’t sit well in Real Madrid’s camp.
Liverpool take on Los Blancos in the final of Europe’s elite competition on Saturday night at the Stade de France as they aim for a seventh trophy.
Salah is desperate to get the better of the Spanish champions after being heartbroken in the 2017/18 Champions League final in Kyiv against Real Madrid.
The Egypt international left the pitch in tears after being sent off with a shoulder injury following a challenge from Sergio Ramos.
Salah, however, managed to get his hands on Europe’s most coveted trophy a year later when Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.
But he insists there is “a score to settle” when the Reds take on the Spanish giants again on Saturday night.
Asked later if the clash with Real Madrid was a mission for revenge, Salah replied: “Yes…we lost in the final. It was a sad day for all of us and now it’s it’s time for revenge.
However, this didn’t sit well with Los Blancos – with midfielder Federico Valverde accusing Salah of being ‘disrespectful’ towards the 13-time European champions.

Meanwhile, defender Dani Carvajal has issued a warning to the talismanic Liverpool striker ahead of their meeting in the French capital.
“I don’t know if Salah or Liverpool want revenge,” Carvajal told ABC.
“It’s true that when you lose a Champions League final, you always want to have a second chance against the same team to beat them.
“Let’s hope it’s not a big burden for Salah to lose a second Champions League final against Real Madrid.”
Brazil international and Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro also responded to the Liverpool striker’s comments.
“For me, personally, it’s not extra motivation. I don’t need extra motivation to play in a Champions League final,” he said.
“If that’s what Salah thinks, well, we respect that, but we don’t think about it. We think about our game.”
