Queen of rock ‘n’ roll dies at 83
Tina Turner, music giant and soul pioneer turned rock star, has died aged 83.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon has died at her home in Switzerland after a long illness, according to a statement posted on her official social media accounts.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner…Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us her greatest work: her music,” reads a statement from his long-time friend and collaborator, Peter Lindbergh.
For many years, Turner lived a reclusive life while battling health issues, including a stroke in 2013, bowel cancer in 2016 and a kidney transplant in 2017.

Throughout her career, Turner’s life has been marked by musical greatness and personal trauma, as she fled an abusive relationship with her musical mentor and first husband, Ike Turner, to achieve unlikely pop stardom in the 80s with “What’s Love Got To Do With It”. .”
Originally from Nutbush, Tennessee, born woman Anna Mae Bullock began her singing career at an early age – singing in the choir at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Nutbush.

But it was seeing Ike Turner perform with his band Kings of Rhythm in 1957 that ignited Turner’s professional passion.
