Punchestown betting tips, preview and odds for the Summer In Town meeting

Punchestown is hosting a big Friday and Saturday meeting this weekend in Kildare, Ireland to showcase top class horses and some who may be heading to the Cheltenham Festival once again.

There are big fields and prize money on offer in Ireland this weekend and the usual names are sending some of their best progressive horses.

Punchestown often holds breathtaking horse races

But before the start of the group races, there is also a class 1 to perfectly see the punters in great action and the best sprinters.

Hurricane Cliff – Could be the best of this brand

This 2m and 1,400m hurdle race features another strong field in the Irish meeting.

Russian Diamond is the highest weight for trainer Emmet Mullins, but he’s mostly raced 3m or more recently.

The downfall of the trip is a distance he hasn’t attempted since a race at this meeting last year, but in a rookie pursuit.

He is coming back to hurdles and that could really suit given his form in this discipline which reads 123.

It has competed against top class horses in recent races and on other endurance test trips so this one should definitely be looked at in the market.

Many of them are higher rated fighters trying to make a winning return over hurdles instead, like Gordon Elliott trained Buddy Rich.

Weight differences could be the difference in this one with the lowest mark given on two stones with all 25 runners.

However, Hurricane Cliff is the one that could make everyone quite handicapped.

He was just five and a half lengths behind Felix Desjy here in April and could still improve from this respectable run.

Ladbrokes Handicap Chase Overview and Betting Tips

Bitter each way at 8/1 or more holds value

Embittered under Donagh Meyler at Leopardstown Festival in February

The colors of Gigginstown Stud and the silks of JP McManus feature prominently in the biggest race of the evening, the Ladbrokes Handicap Chase.

Quality runners, including Cheltenham Festival or Grand National runners, compete in this hotly contested pursuit over just 2m.

Battleoverdean, Unexpected, Emittered, Zarkareva and others have all crushed Graded society in the last year in the UK.

Amer was not up to par in his last races, notably at Cheltenham and Leopardstown.

The only difference with his last win is the pitch and hopefully we can expect improvement.

Amer lost to Global Citizen in the Grand Annual by 19 lengths, but it was on tough ground and now he can come back to victory on a course he loves.

Joseph Patrick O’Brien has 10 out of 60 over the past fortnight on Wednesday and is looking to send this horse through Fame And Glory in good shape.

The early stages suggest this could be a fairly open race before final statements are made and given that the pitch is around 8/1 or higher, this gives the best value for your punts each way.
