Hello, welcome to Thursday. Here is the news in the political atmosphere.

The poll results are in. Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s lead over Republican Tudor Dixon ahead of the November 8 general election has risen to 16 percentage points – from 11 points a month ago – according to a new Free Press poll.

Whitmer’s favorable numbers rose while Dixon’s dimmed as a flurry of Democratic television ads shared the candidates’ positions on abortion rights.

Here is a preview of the new results.

Meanwhile, the future of right to abortion remains a big problem in the state. The poll results reveal strong support for Proposition 3, which would add an explicit right to abortion in Michigan to the state constitution. Take a look at a breakdown of the results.

The survey polled 600 likely November voters between September 15 and September 19 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

That’s all for today. Scroll down to read more stories making headlines this morning. Until tomorrow.
