auricio Pochettino has not asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Manchester United, the French club’s sporting director has said.

Speaking to AFP on Friday, Leonardo said: “We don’t want Pochettino to leave. He has never asked to leave and no club has contacted us about him.

Former Tottenham boss Pochettino has refused to rely on reports of a move to Manchester in the run-up to PSG’s midweek Champions League defeat to United rivals Manchester City.

“What another club is doing at that time is none of my business, that is none of my problem,” Pochettino said. “I have to focus on Paris Saint-Germain.

“I’m not going to make the mistake of talking. In the past, when I was in Espanyol and my dream was to meet [Sir Alex] Ferguson, all that I can say now is going to be misunderstood and out of context.

“I was a player for Paris Saint-Germain, I love the club, I love the supporters. I think it’s a fantastic time to be at the club.

Media speculation has also named Zinedine Zidane as a possible replacement for Pochettino at the Parc des Princes, which Leonardo also denies.

He added: “We have a lot of respect for Zinedine Zidane, for what he has done as a player and coach, but I can say very clearly that there has been no contact or meeting with him.

“It is ridiculous to imagine that a meeting with Zidane could have taken place in a large hotel, in Paris, facing the world.”
