Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want an in-person apology from the Royal Family following their Netflix series, report says

• According to the Sunday Times, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are making excuses.

• They would base their request on a similar reconciliation meeting held after another scandal.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry want an apology from the Royal Family – and preferably in person, according to The Sunday Times.

The report came after the final part of their Netflix docuseries, ‘Harry & Meghan’, was released on Thursday.

In it, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex described the start of their relationship as well as the rift that opened up between them and other members of the royal family, including Prince William and King Charles III.

So far, the royal family has not engaged on the record with the criticism the couple level at the royal family and the royal institution on the show.

Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment, while Kensington Palace, which represents William, declined to comment.

According to the Sunday Times report, Meghan and Harry want their complaints dealt with in person, citing a similar meeting to the same effect.

That meeting touched on a separate scandal in which a royal aide was accused of racism after asking a black British woman where she was ‘really from’.

Her royal correspondent, Roya Nikkah, said the couple saw it as a “double standard” over how they had been treated.

She quoted an anonymous source close to the couple, who said: “Nothing like this was ever done when Harry and Meghan raised various concerns – no reunion, formal apology or taking responsibility or accountability. It’s hard to swallow – 100% yes they would love to have a reunion.”
