Premier League betting, predictions & odds picks for matchday 20 midweek
| News Today | Google News
Boxing Day 2021 has passed, but the holiday season continues, as the preparations for the New Year are filled with Premier League games.
Two games have been postponed, but there are still eight games left over the next three days to keep us company. When matches get crowded like this, the better, deeper teams often jump to the fore as clubs with less purchasing power struggle to replenish that same depth.
So supporting the best teams to go their separate ways during these busy times is one way of choosing games. The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea continue to roll across the rest of the pitch as they push for Premier League glory. There is no reason to be cute and try to win the lottery by trying to predict slippage from favorites. Instead, as the top sides rack up wins, so should you.

Premier League betting tips and choices
Last week: 3-0
Season review: 5-1
Pick: Tottenham win and both teams to score (+270)
Southampton have stayed alive this season beating bad and vulnerable sides which is exactly how to build a lifeline in the Premier League. However, they are not up to the task against higher level opposition. They started the season with impressive draws against both Manchester clubs, but since then there have been three out of three losses to Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, which saw him outperform 10-1.
Tottenham are currently playing as a top team as Antonio Conte has his club on a roll. Spurs were not at this level of competition earlier in the season, but given their current form, this club can be considered a top-level opponent.
MORE: Ferran Torres to move to Barcelona
While the end result wasn’t always very kind to the Saints, Southampton scored against Spurs in 13 straight games across all competitions. They haven’t been ruled out against Spurs since a 2-0 loss in December 2015. History between the clubs tends to play a bigger role than it sometimes makes sense, and I like supporting both. teams to score in this one.
Pick: Liverpool winner and over 2.5 goals (-140)
Leicester City are a good team, let’s put that aside. But teams on short rest are usually the ones that fade away: The Foxes have to face the top two teams in the league within 48 hours, which is just a ridiculous Premier League schedule. These are the opportunities that we are looking for.
MORE: The biggest wins in PL history
The value choices here aren’t many, as bookies also recognize the mountain Leicester City need to climb, but the Foxes are thin defensively, with Ricardo Pereira and Caglar Soyuncu both injured in the last game. James Maddison has been a beacon of hope for Leicester and could shake things up on offense. The goals will come. These odds aren’t appetizing at all, needing an extra addition just to get some semblance of a comeback, but it still presents an inviting opportunity.
Pick: Chelsea -1 Asian Handicap (-135)
Brighton got exactly what the doctor ordered on Boxing Day, with a win over Brentford pushing the Seagulls to ninth in the Premier League table.
Here’s what puts you in ninth place in the Premier League table after Boxing Day today: wins over Burnley, Watford, Brentford, Leicester City and Brentford again, plus eight draws. Brighton are the best of the teams at their level, and that’s all the Seagulls want or need to fight on another day. It probably won’t be good enough against Chelsea either.
MORE: Pulisic is not a striker, that’s clear
The Blues, meanwhile, have Romelu Lukaku back, and they badly needed him. Christian Pulisic wasn’t cutting him off at the forward, and with his talisman on the pitch, Chelsea are simply a much better team. The silver line in this game offers no value, but taking Chelsea to a -1 gap allows for acceptable odds while still leaving room for a potentially narrow encounter.
11 – Since Thomas Tuchel’s first game at the helm of Chelsea in January, the Blues have scored more penalties in the Premier League than any other team (11), with Jorginho scoring nine himself – more than any club besides Chelsea during this period. Source. pic.twitter.com/cHForQcy7o
