Predictions for Bengals and Patriots games

Action Network NFL analyst C Jackson Cowart is in his first season in The Post’s Bettor’s Guide.

VSIncinnati Bengals (-7.5) vs. DALLAS COWBOYS

It’s sure to be one of the biggest public games of the week, but some bets are too obvious to ignore.

Last week, the Bengals suffered five turnovers, several close catches and a pair of special teams blunders by their emergency long snapper…and they still nearly won. We will have a much sharper performance from the defending champions AFC against the Cowboys, who scored just three points in their first game of the season before Dak Prescott (thumb) even left late in the fourth quarter.

Najee Harris and the Steelers offense gained just 267 yards in 70 minutes against the Bengals on September 11, 2022.

He won’t be back on Sunday, forcing career replacement Cooper Rush into his second start. Its supporting cast is far less talented (or healthy) than the first time around, making it easy to score points on a frustrated Cincinnati squad with something to prove.

NOTew England Patriots v PITTSBURGH STEELERS Under 40.5

I’m shocked that this total is still so high given the major issues facing both offenses – neither of which looked so impressive at the start of Week 1.

Betting on the NFL?

The Patriots have been held to just seven points, their fewest in a season opener since 2003, and Mac Jones (back) is questionable for Week 2. Conversely, Steelers running back Najee Harris (foot) is battling against a new injury after his team gained just 267 yards in 70 minutes. None of these offenses are talented enough to afford such setbacks, especially with an injured Jones and a shaky Mitch Trubisky leading the charge.

Last week/season: 1-1. Dolphins (W), Broncos (L).
