Pont de l’Ascension: sunbathing in Cassis, where tourists and locals enjoy the weekend

In Cassis (Bouches-du-Rhone)the weather offers, for the only long weekend in May, a taste of summer, Saturday 28 May. Tourists and locals intend to take advantage of it, and have thus taken over the beach. The water is in revengeis at 17 degrees. “We come from Lille, so it’s happiness”says a tourist. “Fresh water is good for the body”, recalls a vacationer.

Rescue firefighters ask to pay attention to thermal shocks and recommend, as a precautionary measure, to “wet the neck before entering the whole body” or of “don’t jump into the water all of a sudden”. In the center of the city, the terraces are crowded, and the traders are almost overwhelmed. “We worked well. It was very long and very hard”smiles Jean Maris Tsirlisserver at the Atelier de la glace. In Cassis, the good weather should last throughout the weekend, and even beyond.
