Police hunt armed suspects in Brussels’ EU district – POLITICO


A major police operation was underway Monday evening in the European district of Brussels, armed suspects would have holed up in a building near the European Commission.

Willemien Baert, spokesperson for the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, confirmed local media reports that the police had been called following an incident in the area.

The suspects are in a building on Rue Boduognat, located between Place Ambiorix and the Commission’s headquarters at Berlaymont, according to media reports.

A police helicopter was seen hovering over the area and around 30 officers and fire engines were at the scene. Officers said they were not authorized to provide further information
