UPDATE: Mobile Police have identified Bobby Williams, 19, of Mobile, as the driver who rammed his car into a fire hydrant after leading officers in a short vehicle chase during an attempted traffic stop Thursday afternoon. He was arrested after a short foot chase after the crash.
Williams is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, attempting to escape, carrying an unlicensed pistol and possessing second-degree marijuana.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A driver fleeing Mobile police lost control of his car and crashed into a fire hydrant on Thursday.
The impact sent water squirting all over Washington Place. Officers caught the driver a few blocks from Lexington Street.
Investigators did not release his name.
