PITTSBURGH — A local church was struck by lightning just before Sunday service.
St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, located on East Street in the Spring Hill-City View neighborhood of Pittsburgh, was about to celebrate mass around 8:55 a.m. when the lights went on.

Our team at the scene learned that nearly 150 parishioners were inside the building at the time.

The church dome is moderately damaged with tiles hitting the road below.
The loudspeaker and electrical systems inside were also damaged.
“We heard it inside the church, cut the electricity. Some lights came on but there is electrical damage inside. The sound system is not in good condition. We We had a few other little issues, but mostly the roof isn’t in great shape,” said Father Larry DiNardo.
DiNardo said no one was hurt and pickers were able to start services after emergency crews cleared the scene.
