Rajasthan Royals (RR) will need to recover quickly from their disappointing loss in Qualifying 1 as they prepare to face a rampant Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a place in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) Final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat on Friday 27th May.
Both teams have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions in their previous outings and come into Qualification 2 with very different mindsets.
However, their bowling offense, which was impressive in the championship phase, was put to the sword as Hardik Pandya (40 not-outs) and David Miller (68 not-outs) comfortably led GT through the finishing line.
Rajasthan will have to sweep away this disappointment or prepare to be pressured again, especially as everything seems to be going Bangalore’s way at the moment.
RCB was aided in their quest to qualify for the playoffs by Delhi’s failure to beat the league-bottom Mumbai Indians in their final group match.
Then, despite Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell failing in the Eliminator, Patildar and Dinesh Karthik found the right one to help them post a whopping 207/4.
Harshal Patel (1/25) managed to recover from a finger injury in time to feature in the Eliminator and along with Josh Hazlewood (3/43) played a vital role in the chase to keep LSG at bay .
With their team combination clicking beautifully, RCB might just believe this could finally be the year they smash their IPL duck and bring home the trophy.
However, the playoffs are an entirely different ball game and with a place in the final up for grabs, it remains to be seen which of the two teams will find the goods in the knockout tie in Ahmedabad.
RR vs RCB Team News:
Rajasthan Royals Team News: Daryl Mitchell has left the RR bio-bubble to join the New Zealand squad as they prepare for a Test series against England. Rajasthan also need to find a more balanced combination as their tactic of using six batters and five bowlers in the last game backfired.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Team News: Bangalore have opted for a stable play combination and the return of Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel from injuries should mean we see an unchanged Playing XI.
RR vs RCB weather update: IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 and Final will be held in Ahmedabad where there is little chance of rain during this season. If it’s warm enough during the day, the temperature should drop to around 29 degrees Celsius at night, which should make it pleasant for gamers.
RR vs RCB presentation report: Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is known to be a good scoring surface for batters, so we could be in for a high-scoring run-fest. The average 1st inning total is 174 in the T20I, so the team that strikes first will want to put a score around the 180-190 run mark.
Where to watch live: The match begins at 7:30 p.m. IST on Friday, May 27 with the draw scheduled for 7:00 p.m. IST. The match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network. Viewers can also tune in to the action via Disney+ Hotstar.
RR vs RCB Top Fantasy League Picks:
Best batting picks: Jos Buttler managed to shake off a disappointing run of outings with a blistering blow in the final game and the tournament’s top scorer will be keen to add to his incredible tally of 718 runs this season. The Faf du Plessis returned to a ‘Golden Duck’ in the last game and will be keen to bounce back. The RCB captain is his team’s leading scorer with 443 runs this season.
Top All-Round Picks: Glenn Maxwell had a forgettable outing in the Eliminator after failing to contribute with bat and the versatile Aussie will be eager to make up for that disappointing display this time around. Ravichandran Ashwin could play a key role for RR and has become accustomed to contributing with both bat and ball this season.
Best Bowling Picks: Yuzvendra Chahal finished without a wicket in the last game and will be looking to extend his lead atop the bowling standings after picking 26 wickets this season. Wanindu Hasaranga is hot on Chahal’s heels with 25 wickets and it could be a head-to-head showdown between the two spinners to decide who finishes with the Purple Cap this season.
