Chelsea have “officially approached” Manchester City as they seek to accelerate their move for Raheem Sterling, as well as team-mate Nathan Ake.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
With a contract expiring next summer, City are seemingly ready to cash in on the 27-year-old. For Chelsea, the move could signal an exciting move under new owner Todd Boehly.
The Daily Mail reports that Boehly made contact with the Premier League champions on Monday with a view to completing the deal this week.
The report adds that Sterling has already had positive talks with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, with the conversation reinforcing the 27-year-old’s desire to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reports that Chelsea are also keen to sign City defender Nathan Ake, who started his professional career at Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman left Chelsea in 2017 in pursuit of first-team football and after a successful loan spell at
City are parting ways with Gabriel Jesus, who is set to join Arsenal for an initial fee of £45million. The report marks Sterling’s valuation as in the region of £55m.

It is understood a formal offer is expected in the coming days, with Chelsea set to finalize personal terms with the England star, who is in the final year of his £300,000-a-week contract.
Sterling has been a Man City player for seven years and it is believed his exit will be handled amicably.
With Sterling emerging as a top target for the club, Tony Cascarino believes the former Liverpool man would be a great addition thanks to the unique skills he would bring to the west London club.
Speaking over the weekend breakfast, Cascarino said: “I think they will make at least two big signings before the start of the season.
“I think Raheem is perfect for Chelsea, I think they need that kind of player.
“I love Raheem’s pace. There are so few players who can hit the guideline as a wide player. Timo Werner is a terrible finisher, now some people are saying Sterling’s finishing isn’t the best but he still has chances and he still gets a decent number at the end of a season.
“I’m a bit disappointed because I thought [Christian] Pulisic would be a very good player for Chelsea.
“He had too many injuries and never really started. He has his moments but like many strikers at Chelsea they haven’t really delivered the numbers you’d expect.
“You can put Lukaku in there, Timo Werner, I think Havertz is not really a centre-forward but played that role.
“He’s improving as a player but it’s not the finished article that’s going to lead the line at Chelsea all season.”
