Parent Tells Joe Biden “Come On Brandon” On Santa Claus Tracker Call – And President Agrees | World news

A Christmas event at the White House took an awkward turn on Friday when a caller dropped a vulgar anti-Biden slogan in a conversation with the US president.

Joe Biden was having a traditional festive phone call with children following Santa’s sleigh when their father told the President “Come on Brandon.”

Mr Biden, apparently oblivious to the insult, responded by saying, “Come on Brandon, I agree”, before the call was dropped.

Coded jibe was popularized by Tories after a TV reporter told NASCAR pilot Brandon Brown live that a crowd chanting “F *** Joe Biden” was actually saying “Let’s go Brandon.”

The slogan has since become a viral meme that has even been worn on a face mask by a Republican member of the US House of Representatives.

The incident occurred as the president and his wife were receiving calls for the tracker from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), which monitors Santa’s journey around the world every Christmas.

It’s part of an annual tradition that began in the 1950s when a child accidentally called a serving U.S. military commander while trying to contact Santa.

NORAD now hosts a helpline for volunteers that children can call for updates as Santa Claus makes his annual trip to homes around the world.

Like many other presidents in the past, Mr. Biden was enlisted on Christmas Eve to answer phone calls from children contacting the NORAD switchboard.

The president had already taken three phone calls when he spoke to a family in Oregon: Griffin, 11, Hunter, three, Piper, four, Penelope, two, and their father, Jared.

The conversation seemed mundane at first, with each of the kids telling Mr. Biden and his wife Jill that they were hoping to receive a Barbie, a piano, and a Nintendo Switch for their Christmas presents.

At the end of the call, Mr. Biden told Jared, “Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas.”

The father replied, “Yes, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too. Merry Christmas and let’s go Brandon.”

Much of the exchange was not immediately clear, including the caller’s intent, why Mr. Biden repeated the tagline, and whether either knew the origin of the phrase.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment.
