Oklahoma Assistant DA charged with possession of child pornography
An Oklahoma man who worked as an assistant district attorney for Payne County and Logan County was arrested on Monday for alleged possession of child pornography.
Kevin Etherington, 53, has been charged with one count of aggravated possession of child pornography and one count of violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).

On September 1, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children gave 14 cyber tips to OBSI’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division (ICAC), which ended up being linked to a single suspect, identified more late as Etherington, OBSI said in a statement.
OBSI ICAC officers conducted a search warrant at Etherington’s home on Monday, where he was later arrested due to the search results.
District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas, who Etherington worked for, announced he was fired following the announcement of the charges, according to the Oklahoma.
“I can’t express how appalled and disappointed I am with this development,” Thomas said.
“Although the defendant is innocent of the alleged crime until proven guilty, my review of the investigation resulted in the termination of this individual by my office,” she added.
Etherington is currently being held in a Payne County Jail.
The Oklahoma reported that this isn’t the first time Etherington has been fired or has had legal issues.
In 2010, he was fired from the Oklahoma District Attorney’s Office after having an affair with a co-worker. He was married to another colleague at the time.
In 2017, he was charged with theft after allegedly taking vehicle jacks from his ex-wife’s house. The charges were dismissed a few months later.
Several officials have recently been charged or convicted of possessing child pornography.
In October, Breitbart News reported that a former Democratic mayor of Beaverton, Oregon, Dennis Doyle, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.
In September, a former Democratic city councilman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 14 to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
