NY Times union says more than 1,000 journalists will be out next week

More than 1,000 unionized workers at The New York Times have pledged to walk away if the news publisher doesn’t agree to a full and fair contract by Thursday, according to a union tweet Friday.
“While we are disappointed that the NewsGuild is threatening to strike, we are prepared to ensure that The Times continues to serve our readers without interruption,” an NYT spokesperson said, adding that the current pay proposal for the company offered “significant raises”.
The union did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for additional comment.
Earlier in March, a group of nearly 600 New York Times technical employees voted to unionize as the company faced allegations of unlawful interference in the organization of work.
