Carrow Road will be a happy hunting ground for other teams, said Perry Groves, who believes Norwich is destined for the drop.

The Canaries’ bid for survival suffered a hammer blow as they were beaten 5-0 at home to Arsenal on Boxing Day.

Canaries boss Dean Smith was a big fan of Norwich

Arsenal are in good shape, but Groves believe much of the defeat was self-inflicted by Norwich, claiming Dean Smith’s men didn’t have the fight to give the Gunners a game.

Groves added that he believes Norwich lacks the determination, quality and conviction to avoid elite relegation, adding that other teams will see a trip to their home ground as an easy day.

He said on talkSPORT after the game: “From the moment Bukayo Saka scored in the sixth minute there was no doubt that Arsenal had too much quality, especially in the forward areas.

“I look at the Norwich team, they are dejected, their heads down, their hands on their hips. I don’t think they really believe they can get out of this situation.

Norwich supporters may not believe either

“There was a lack of fighting over the last 15-20 minutes and you could hear the Norwich fans weren’t particularly impressed. There were a few boos at half-time and at the end of the game as well.

“There’s just a lack of quality from this group of Norwich players. I don’t see where their goals come from.

“They are in a lot of trouble, Norwich. I don’t see the fight they need outside of the ball. They have to make it difficult for the teams.

“Dean Smith said in his program notes that he wanted to make it harder for teams coming to Carrow Road, I think teams will enjoy coming to Carrow Road.”
