A 4-year-old New York child fell through a sixth-story window in the Bronx on Tuesday and is in stable condition after good Samaritans and first responders teamed up to rush him to the hospital, police say. the city.

Emergency Medical Services employees and officers from Police Service Area No. 7 arrived within moments and found the child “conscious and alert,” authorities said. They rushed the child to Lincoln Hospital, just a fifth of a mile away.

He was in stable condition Wednesday night, authorities said.

The video shows an officer wrapping the child in a jacket and rushing him to a waiting NYPD van. It then switches to the driver’s body camera before showing another officer carrying the child on a waiting stretcher, where FDNY paramedics are waiting with an oxygen tank and medical equipment.

A separate cellphone video shared on the Citizen app showed a police tape around the perimeter and said police closed the intersection in order to help the child.

Big Apple apartments housing children under 10 are supposed to have window bars. Patterson houses are operated by the New York City Housing Authority.

“NYCHA is investigating this unfortunate incident and will work with the family to ensure they have the services they need,” a spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. “Upon initial review, window guards are present throughout the apartment where required and last checked in February 2022, and there are no repair work orders on file for the air conditioners present in the residence.”

The NYPD said an investigation into the fall is ongoing. Details of the child’s injuries were not immediately available.

The fall comes just under a year after a 3-year-old child from the Bronx fell from a fifth-story window in the borough and survived with a broken leg, according to NBC New York. In this case, the child fell through a window whose bars had been removed to make way for an air conditioner.
