Former President Donald Trump has received poor marks for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic from nearly everyone around him – including, it turns out, his own wife.
Then-first lady Melania Trump allegedly told her husband he needed to take the virus more seriously at the start of the crisis, according to the forthcoming book. The divider by Peter Baker of The New York Times and Susan Glasser of The New Yorker.
“‘You blow this up,’ she remembers telling her husband,” the couple wrote in the book, per CNN. “‘It’s serious. It’s going to be really bad and you have to take it more seriously than you take it.
She even asked Chris Christie to help persuade Trump that the pandemic should be taken more seriously.
“He had just fired her. “You worry too much,” she remembered him telling her. “Forget it,” Baker and Glasser wrote.
The divider is scheduled for next week.
