‘Multiple’ people injured in Chattanooga shooting: report

A shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, left “several” injured after an exchange of gunfire, according to local police.

Some of the victims were not directly involved in the “multiple party” firefight, police told Tennessee news station WTVC.

One person has been arrested and police believe there is no longer a threat to the public, WTVC reported.

The victims were rushed to a local hospital. The exact number of victims and the extent of their injuries could not immediately be determined, the news station reported. According to the police, the victims are teenagers under the age of 20.

The shooting reportedly took place in downtown Chattanooga near a popular pizzeria Mellow Mushroom.

The Chattanooga shooting follows several mass shootings in the United States, including the shooting at a school in Uvalde, Texas, which left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Uvalde’s attack was the second deadliest school shooting since the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012.

A shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, left 10 people dead earlier this month.
