MSNBC’s The Reidout host Joy Reid claimed that “late abortion” is a term “made up” on Tuesday.

Reid had discussed Senator Lindsey Graham, RS.C.’s new abortion bill, the “Protecting Unborn Children Capable of Pain from Late-Late Abortions Act,” which she called “a measure dangerous, ugly and hopeless”.

Graham’s bill restricts abortion much later than the state’s recent “heartbeat bills” and includes several exceptions for women who have been victims of rape, incest, or where their lives are in danger.

Reid hit out at Graham for his past statements, saying, “Just a month ago, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham was okay with states like Michigan putting these issues to the people.”

MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” averaged 122,000 viewers among the advertiser-coveted demo during the second quarter of 2022, a 60% drop in viewership from its first quarter.

THE SLAMS SEN VIEW HOST. GRAHAM’S ABORTION LAW: ‘THERE IS NO SUCH THING’ AS LATE ABORTION

She shared a past clip of Graham saying, “I’ve been consistent. I think states should decide the marriage issue and states should decide the abortion issue.”

Reid commented on his statement saying, “Okay, today this guy, the guy who says he’s been totally consistent, now thinks it’s a great idea for Congress to go for it. forward and enact a federal ban on abortion and impose a criminal penalty of up to five years in prison on anyone who helps facilitate an abortion.”

She then shared a clip of Graham discussing the bill, explaining, “Here’s what I think. I think we should have a law at the federal level that says ‘after 15 weeks, no abortion on demand.'”

Reid responded by saying that not only is the bill misleading in the way it uses the phrase “late abortion,” but that the term itself is inaccurate.

LIBERALS BLAST MEDIA COVERAGE OF GRAHAM’S 15-WEEK ABORTION BAN, DON’T SAY ANYTHING SUCH AS ‘LATE’ ABORTION

“The name of Graham’s bill includes the phrase ‘late abortions’ which is not accurate. 15 weeks is not a late abortion and it should not be used as it is actually a ‘a coined term,’ Reid said. “But that really shouldn’t surprise you coming from a guy who is probably the most cowardly opportunistic politician since Marco Rubio and Mitch McConnell.”

Reid continued to criticize Graham’s character as a politician.

“Flip-flop political positions is Graham’s mo,” Reid said. “Beneath the faux-folksy exterior, he’s just that guy. In 2016, he told the American people to hold him accountable for blocking Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court nomination because it was too close to the elections.”

She later added, “So just know that Graham’s dangerous, ugly, desperate decision is the most definitive proof you can get that Republicans know abortion, not inflation, not crime, Abortion will be the biggest issue for voters in November. . Period.”
