Gloria Y. Williams, 35, told KHOU in an exclusive interview from prison that she did not know her 8-year-old son was dead.
Authorities found the children – 7, 9 and 15 – and the body of the fourth child in a Houston apartment on Sunday. The child’s cause of death was found to be “homicidal violence with multiple blunt injuries,” according to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
He is believed to have died around Thanksgiving, Sgt. Dennis Wolford, the senior investigator for the sheriff’s homicide unit, said at a press conference.
When asked what happened, KHOU reported that Williams replied, “I’m sorry. I didn’t.”
Williams attempted to “modify, destroy and cover up … a human corpse,” according to a criminal complaint.
She was charged with injuring a child by omission, injuring a child causing serious injury and falsifying evidence involving a human corpse, court documents show. The security deposit for these charges is $ 900,000.
It is not clear whether Williams has obtained legal representation.
Her boyfriend, Brian W. Coulter, has been charged with murder in the death of the 8-year-old. Coulter, 31, committed a “criminal offense of injuring a child by intentionally, knowingly and recklessly causing bodily harm” by hitting the child with his hand and kicking him, thereby causing death, according to prosecution documents filed by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
The bond for Coulter has been set at $ 1 million. The terms do not include any contact with Williams or anyone under the age of 17. CNN has not been able to determine if it has obtained a lawyer.
