More than 2 million people in England have had a Covid booster shot | Coronavirus

So far, more than two million people have received the coronavirus booster vaccine in England.

Booster shots are given at least six months after a second dose.

NHS England said on Saturday that three weeks after the start of the booster program, a total of 2.08 million refills had been administered.

He said these included the third injections given as boosters and doses given to people with severely weakened immune systems who may not have responded strongly to their initial injections.

Ruth May, the head nurse for England, said she had recently received her reminder “to protect me and those around me”.

She said: ‘It’s fantastic to see that just three weeks after the start of the recall campaign, more than 2 million people quickly got their supplemental protection ahead of what will be a busy winter period for the NHS .

“Thanks to the incredible efforts of NHS staff who have vaccinated in mosques, athletic fields and community centers, those who are eligible and most at risk for coronavirus have been able to get vaccinated.

“I received my booster before winter to protect myself and those around me – I urge others to do the same. It is fast, efficient and offers really important protection against the virus. “

People eligible for a booster vaccine are people aged 50 and over, frontline health and social workers, and people aged 16 to 49 with an underlying health condition exposing them more at risk of contracting the virus.

Before the boosters were announced last month, authorities recommended that a third dose be offered to people over 12 years of age who were severely immunosuppressed at the time of their first or second dose, including people with leukemia, Advanced HIV and recent organ transplants.
