Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk benched for Liverpool to decide Premier League title as Heung-min Son gets boost in Golden Boot race

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have been named on the Liverpool bench for the final game of the Premier League season.

Both men were injured in the FA Cup final last weekend and have not recovered enough to start the game against Wolves.

Salah and Van Dijk were on the Liverpool bench to face Wolves

Neither were involved in the matchday squad that beat Southampton 2-1 on Tuesday to keep the Premier League title race going until the final game.

Jurgen Klopp’s side face Wolves at Anfield with a title shot, but need Man City to slide against Aston Villa at the Etihad.

It will be a blow that Salah and Van Dijk are not involved from the start against Wolves.

But the fact that they are fit enough to make the bench gives the Reds hope that they will be available for next Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris.

Not only will this be good news for their title rivals Man City, but it will also be a boost for Tottenham striker Heung-min Son.
