MoD Raids Wrong Hotel Room, Detains Training Guest

According to the FBI, participants in a Department of Defense training exercise accidentally raided the wrong hotel room and detained an unsuspecting guest Tuesday night in Boston.
The mix-up occurred around 10 p.m., a spokesperson for the FBI’s Boston Division told USA TODAY. The exercise was intended to “simulate a situation that (DoD) personnel might encounter in a deployed environment.”
“Based on inaccurate information, they were mistakenly sent to the wrong room and detained a person, not the intended actor,” the statement read.
No one was injured during the practice, and Boston police were called to the scene to confirm it was a drill. The FBI said it was reviewing the incident with the Department of Defense.
“Security is always a priority for the FBI and our law enforcement partners, and we take these incidents very seriously,” the FBI said.
According to a statement from Delta Airlines, the company is reviewing local media reports that the detained person is an employee.
