Schumacher has taken part in this edition four times, taking to the track in Canada, France, Silverstone and Monza, winning them all.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to win the world championship in 1998, with Schumacher being beaten by Mika Hakkinen.
With chassis number 187, a full three-litre V10 engine and 800 brake horsepower, the car was sold by Sotheby’s Auction House in Monterey, Mexico for a total sum of £5,272,818.
Schumacher’s 1998 car is now the fourth most expensive Formula 1 vehicle to come to auction, with the German legend now responsible for driving three of the top four vehicles.
His 2002 Ferrari F2002 was sold by Sotheby’s in 2019 in Abu Dhabi for £5,490,062, while his 2001 Ferrari F2001 was sold by Sotheby’s in 2017 in New York for £6,200,930.
As a result, the three Schumacher cars that made it to auction sold for a staggering £16,963,810.
