Michael Block’s Rory McIlory Boast May Have Gone Too Far

Michael Block may have bought into the hype.
After an incredible PGA Championship in which the club pro finished tied for 15th and scored a last-round hole-in-one, the 47-year-old has lived his dream – and it’s clearly a dream noble.
Block, who played his last round with Rory McIlroy, may have passed the four-time major champion.
“He’s a lot longer than me,” Block said of performing with McIlroy on the “Ripper Magoo Podcast” with Bob Menery this week. “What I would shoot from where Rory is hitting would be stupid. I think I would be one of the best players in the world.
“Fingers in the nose. If I had that stupid length, all day. My iron game, my wedge game, around the greens, and my putting is world class.
Despite his bragging, Block struggled in the first round of the Charles Schwab Challenge on Thursday, shooting an 11 of 81 – good for last place in the field.

McIlroy, a former world No. 1, has 23 PGA Tour wins, including four major wins.
He finished the PGA Championship at 2-under and tied for seventh, three strokes better than Block 1-over on the weekend.
The two celebrated Block’s ace on the 15th hole at Oak Hill East in Rochester, and Block enjoyed his time with the McIlroys.
“Rory was awesome. It’s amazing. I’m enjoying this moment,” Block said after the round. “I learned this after 46 years of life. It’s not going to get better than that. »

Block may have qualified for next year’s PGA Championship, but his post-round thinking might turn out to be right.
