Memphis Grizzlies Guard Ja Morant Suspended 8 Games Over Gun Video

The NBA has suspended Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant for eight games without pay for conduct harmful to the league after he appeared in an Instagram Live video on March 4 “holding a gun while intoxicated” while he was visiting a nightclub near Denver, according to a league statement.
Morant hasn’t played since March 3 and the five games he missed will count towards the suspension. He can play again in Monday’s Grizzlies game against the Dallas Mavericks.
“Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. “It also has serious implications given his huge following and influence, especially among young fans who look up to him. He expressed sincere contrition and remorse for his behavior.
