Media falsely claims Elise Stefanik was responsible for Pelosi’s attack

A New York state taxpayer-funded NPR affiliate falsely claimed on Saturday that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was responsible for Friday’s attack on Paul Pelosi.

David Sommerstein, the news director of NCPR, a member-supported public radio station serving upstate New York, claims that Stefanik opposes political violence but that his “everyday rhetoric can contribute to it”.

@Rep Stefanik denounces violent political acts. But his daily rhetoric can help. An important thread of @zdhirsch who has been reporting on Stefanik all year for @ncpr”, Sommerstein tweeted.

Sommerstein’s tweet echoed CNPR freelance journalist Zach Hirsch’s claims that Stefanik’s exposure of the attack on Pelosi needed “context”, and he suggested that Stefanik somehow instigated the attack.

Retweet Stefanik’s Friday conviction of the attack, Hirsch, who writes about “democracy and disinformation,” said “Stefanik regularly blasts Nancy Pelosi with increasingly tough and personal attacks.

Stefanik’s campaign spokesperson tells Breitbart News that the NCPR fabricated false allegations against Stefanik, while refusing to condemn the ‘violent’ rhetoric that fueled the assassination attempt on the Supreme Court justice. Brett Kavanaugh. The spokesperson said:

The taxpayer-funded NCPR – without a shred of evidence – shamefully claims Congresswoman Stefanik is responsible for the attack on Paul Pelosi simply because she opposes Pelosi’s policies. They refuse to cover up the violent left-wing rhetoric that led to an assassination attempt on a Supreme Court justice. It’s deranged and dangerous, they should and will be funded.

Stefanik’s campaign also noted that the NCPR never mentioned how Democratic rhetoric might have influenced the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), never reporting on Rep. Maxine Water’s (D-CA) comments on how citizens should get in the face of Trump administration officials.
