“I always have to be optimistic. But this is a very difficult time for Democrats,” Watters said. “We have two Democrats, Manchin and Sinema, and they’re holding back the Democratic agenda. Filibuster is “action intended to prolong debate and delay or prevent passage of a bill,” according to Senate rules. The only way to break the maneuver is the fence, which requires 60 votes. Of the 100 Senate seats, Republicans have 50 and Democrats currently have 48, not including two independents who caucus with Democrats. This political composition has caused deadlocks on the Democratic agenda.

When asked what Democrats could do to resolve the impasse, Waters insisted there was nothing the party or President Biden could do and that the problems were all up to Republicans.
“That’s not what Democrats need to do. We’re doing everything that can be done. That’s what Republicans need to do. Why don’t we have a Republican, not one who will defend the right to vote people in And so I hear a lot about our president. He fights as hard as he can. I don’t know why people think he can make Manchin and Sinema do the right thing,” said she declared.
