Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer denounces reports of Paul Pogba breakup: “Blatant lies”

Solskjaer’s case was not helped by suggestions of trouble in the dressing room, with claims some players lost confidence in his abilities after an inept tactical approach on Sunday.
Indeed, it was reported earlier this week that Pogba snubbed the Norwegian after being named to the bench against Liverpool and then sent off just 15 minutes after committing a terrible challenge on Naby Keita.
The France international has reportedly even suspended talks on an extension of his contract with United – which is due to expire next summer – for the foreseeable future.
However, Pogba himself was quick to denounce the news on social media, calling it “fake news” and “big headlines” lies.
An angry Solskjaer also blasted a discussion of a falling out with one of his most prominent players as he faced the media on Friday ahead of a key showdown with Tottenham this weekend.
He said: “I don’t tend to read social media but when Paul came up to me angry …
“We expect to be criticized, because with hands up, the performance was not good enough, you expect to hear it from right, left and center. But we cannot accept when lies are made up, and Paul came to me and told me what he posted on his social media account.
“We’re better than that as a group. The culture is better, the environment is better. When it’s blatant lies, they have to stand up and say it. All opinions and reports, fine, but don’t don’t lie about players or me. “
