Manchester United aim to complete Frenkie de Jong transfer NEXT WEEK as Erik ten Hag to make Barcelona star first signing

Manchester United are aiming to complete the signing of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong by June 30, according to talkSPORT.

United are set to agree a fee of around £68million for the Netherlands international, who is new manager Erik ten Hag’s main target.

De Jong is one of Ten Hag’s top targets and could be ready to land his man

Ten Hag managed De Jong at Ajax and was part of his side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season, only to lose to Tottenham.

The midfielder is said to be the new manager’s first signing since his appointment.

It took a little while to cross the line, mainly due to price negotiations.

The Red Devils are now hoping this will lead to a flurry of deals to land new faces ahead of pre-season.

Ajax winger Antony is another familiar face Ten Hag wants to reunite with, as they have also offered Christian Eriksen a contract.

Although the latter reportedly refused to move to Old Trafford.

So far, it’s mostly been about exits rather than arrivals with the likes of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic leaving on free transfers.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson could also be on his way out, with Nottingham Forest confident of giving him a season-long loan.
