A man has died and seven others were injured after being stabbed near a nightclub in Cornwall.
Police were called to Castle Canyke Road in the Victoria Square area of Bodmin, Cornwall at 3.15am on Sunday after reports of a person with a knife and several suspected stabbings.
The incident happened near the Eclipse nightclub, which closes at 3 a.m. on Saturdays.
A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene and at least seven other men and women were injured in the incident. They were taken to hospital for treatment. None of their injuries are treated as life-threatening.
A 24-year-old man from Bodmin was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at this time.
Police remain at the scene in Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road. Local football team Bodmin Youth FC closed their nearby ground after the incident.
DI Ilona Rosson, from the Major Crimes Investigation Team, said: “Following an incident in Bodmin last night, a man in his 30s has been confirmed dead and officers are supporting his relatives.
“At this time, we are treating this as an isolated matter and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
“This is a live and active police investigation, and I urge people not to speculate on social media, but if you have any information that can help us, please report it.”
East Cornwall Local Police Superintendent Rob Youngman said: ‘This investigation is in its early stages and the public can expect to see an increased police presence around Bodmin today as investigations are ongoing. course.
