Macron at 52% in the second round of the elections in a recent poll

An Ipsos-Sopra Steria poll for the first round elections in France shows:

  • Macron seen with 26.5%
  • Le Pen with 23%
  • Mélenchon with 16.5%

For the second round, the survey results show:

Polling numbers have fallen from a more than double-digit gain a few weeks ago. Rising energy prices have helped bolster anti-EU Le Pen.

The tightening led to a widening of French rates to German rates. In terms of the 10-year spread, the yield spread fell from 40 basis points at March 30 to 54 basis points. The gap is the highest since April 2020.
