Jude Bellingham is a big fan of Jordan Henderson and Liverpool fans are all hoping it counts for something next summer.
The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder continues to be linked with a move to Anfield, and a recent comment from him on a message from Henderson has many supporters saying the same thing.
A video posted by the Liverpool captain showed a clip from a series called ‘Never Done series’, where some of his teammates and former players can be seen praising the leadership and talent of the Reds skipper.
“Thank you to everyone involved in this ‘Never Done’ series,” the skipper wrote in a caption alongside a video that was posted to his five million followers. “What people had to say about it means a lot to me and I will continue to give them my best in the future. Great job by @lozcast and @glencowie putting this together and also @nikefootball who have supported me since day 1. More special memories to create!”
It prompts responses from familiar faces in the game, including Tyrone Mings, Conor Coady and Kalvin Phillips, all commenting.
But it was 18-year-old Bellingham’s response that was quickly echoed by Reds fans.
The prodigy simply wrote “legend”, which quickly drew many likes and replies.
Bellingham’s comment quickly received many responses and over 1,000 likes.
It has led Liverpool fans to hope that he will don a red shirt and join Henderson on Merseyside this summer or next.
Instagram user typical.soroush replied, “Here we go!” irfan_dice added: “Subscribe broooo.” While user d0ngjun_y wrote: “come to Liverpool”.
Another, basaraslandogan, added: ‘You can be too much brother’, in relation to Bellingham’s ‘legendary’ comment.
Bellingham, who has made 89 appearances for Dortmund over the past two seasons, continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan, having named him as his top target in 12 months, while Henderson believes ‘the sky’s the limit for his England pal’.
Given Bellingham’s age, he was cautious when asked his opinion in March but said he was impressed.
“He’s a great boy, a fantastic player and I’m sure he’ll get better and better as he gets older and matures.
“When I watch him, he plays with such maturity even now. The sky really is the limit for him.
“I like the way he plays. I like his personality, which is the most important thing. I like the way he conducts himself. I have nothing but good things to say about him.”
Liverpool fans are convinced that Manchester City’s pursuit of Kalvin Phillips means they have a clear run in midfield.
But City boss Pep Guardiola is an equally big admirer of the teenager and hopes Bellingham’s friendship with new signing Erling Haaland can influence a possible deal in their own way.
There will likely be a showdown between the Reds, Manchester City and Real Madrid next summer, with Bellingham costing around £85million.
Los Blancos are hoping to sign the England international, who has 15 caps for his country, to link up with both new signing Aurelien Tchouameni, 22, and Eduardo Camavinga, 19, in midfield.
Where the highly-rated teenager will go remains to be seen, although Dortmund remain adamant that their star midfielder is not for sale.
A move to Liverpool would suit all parties, it seems, and given the aging Reds midfielder, he would add much-needed youth.
It looks like Liverpool’s new sporting director Julian Ward may have some persuasion and a fight in his hands if Liverpool are to get their man.
