Liverpool fan Aaron Cresswell and Reds target Jarrod Bowen condemn Frank Lampard’s Everton 10 men to defeat and boost West Ham’s European hopes as they leap above Manchester United

Everton are in deep trouble after yet another Premier League defeat, this time a 2-1 defeat at the hands of European football chasers West Ham.

Toffees boss Frank Lampard knew his tenure was going to be tough at Goodison Park, but now the heat is really on.

Everton’s Premier League future seriously in doubt after another damaging loss

Aaron Cresswell opened the scoring for the Hammers at home with a lavish set piece and the Liverpool fan happily celebrated in front of the Everton fans.

Mason Holgate got the Toffees level in the second half as they made a fist of the clash.

But mistakes soon crept into their game with Jarrod Bowen netting and Michael Keane sent off soon after.

That leaves them just three points outside the Premier League relegation zone with just two games in hand.

For West Ham, however, the victory galvanizes their European hopes as they keep touching distance from Arsenal and Tottenham, and move above Manchester United.

And getting one on Lampard was a treat in the stands, too.

Cresswell loved scoring against Everton

Lampard would have hoped for a stress-free start to the match at the London Stadium, but instead received a heavy blow before kick-off.

Manchester United star on loan, Donny van de Beek, stopped during the warm-up and had to be replaced by defender Mason Holgate.

He was used out of position, in midfield, but had his own scare minutes into the game.

The former England Under-21 international was left on the ground with the Toffees physio who left holes in his socks to relieve pressure on his calves.

Van de Beek had been named in the starting lineup but was replaced by Holgate

Everton got off to a positive start in east London, however, dominating possession but failing to create any clear chances.

Football is often full of storytelling, so just after the half hour their fans might just have seen exactly what was to come.

West Ham left-back Cresswell is a huge Liverpool fan and has never hidden it.

So with 13 minutes to go and with the ball placed on the bridge 25 yards out, his destination was almost inevitable.

Cresswell fired a fine shot into the top right corner of the goal, giving Jordan Pickford no chance.

Holgate grabbed an equalizer for Everton

Unlike some games this season, Everton showed heart and desire and ultimately their fight helped them back into the game in the second half.

A corner was only half cleared and Richarlison was able to push the ball into Holgate’s path.

Van de Beek’s substitute lined up a volley and saw his shot find the back of Lukasz Fabianski’s goal through Pablo Fornals.

But, just six minutes later, Lampard’s side and their defensive shortcomings were laid bare when Alex Iwobi lost the ball in midfield.

A gaping hole in the Toffees back line saw Antonio galloping towards goal. His effort was denied by Pickford, who was rushing, but the parry fell directly on Bowen through the penalty area for an easy finish.

Things then got worse after 65 minutes when Michael Keane, already booked, rushed Antonio.

Before Michael Oliver could even send a red card his way, Keane knew he was on his way.

And he will now miss their huge game with Burnley, who sit 19th in the table, on Wednesday night.

Keane was devastated and will now miss his critical midweek clash with Burnley

From there, despite good efforts, Everton had no chance of turning the tide.

And they must now realize that relegation is a much bigger concern than they previously thought.

Meanwhile West Ham, an evenly matched club, have plans for a top four finish after sealing their first double against Everton in 50 years.
