Liverpool confirm date for victory parade to take place, although Premier League and Champions League are missing

Liverpool plan to hold a victory parade through the streets of the city the day after the Champions League final, regardless of what happens in the rest of the season.

The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup and two games remain to secure an unprecedented treble.

Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup this season

Jurgen Klopp’s side are one point clear of Man City ahead of Sunday’s final day of the Premier League season. Liverpool take on Wolves, while City host Aston Villa.

They will then travel to Paris for next Saturday’s Champions League final with Real Madrid.

Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson has confirmed the club have accepted an offer of an open-top bus parade for Sunday May 29 – the day after the Champions League final.

The women’s team, who won the FA Women’s Championship last month, will also be part of the celebrations.

May 29 is also the anniversary of the Heysel stadium disaster, where 39 fans were killed in 1985.

Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson said: “We are delighted to now be able to confirm that the club will be marching through the city permanently on May 29 – and I am delighted that we are celebrating the achievements of both the men’s and women’s teams. .

Liverpool fans will once again line the streets to celebrate their success

“A tremendous amount of work is going on behind the scenes to prepare for an event of this size and scale, so it’s fantastic that the city can now experience it.

“To lift the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the FA Women’s Championship trophy is an incredible achievement that deserves recognition.

“We went through everything so that they weren’t the only trophies they lifted that day!

“Whatever the end of the season and the Champions League final, Liverpool FC and Liverpool FC Women have already made us proud, and we will give both teams the comeback party they deserve. .”
