Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said there is “nothing to worry about” after revealing he was happy with Mohamed Salah’s contract talks and his current form.
Salah, 29, whose deal expires in June 2023, is reportedly close to agreeing a new deal with the Merseyside giants which would tie him to the club until the end of his career.
“I’m happy because there’s nothing new to say, it’s good. The playoffs talk to each other and that’s all I need,” Klopp said ahead of his side’s Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica.
Liverpool beat Manchester United 5-0 in October and after the game Salah insisted he wanted to stay at Anfield until the end of his career.
“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s out of my hands,” said the Egypt international .
“It depends on what the club wants, not on me.
“At the moment I can’t see myself playing against Liverpool. It would make me sad. It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad.
“At the moment I can’t see myself playing against Liverpool, but let’s see what happens in the future.”

The talks, however, did not progress as quickly as many would have thought.
And Klopp isn’t worried about the form of his Egyptian star, who has failed to score from open play in his last eight matches.
“For me the level of performance is important, the way it brings the players together,” Klopp said.
“It’s a tough time for Mo and Sadio, who have just returned from an international assignment and are available again. We see it every day – there’s nothing to worry about.
Salah will be aiming to rekindle his goalscoring form when the Reds take on Benfica in Lisbon.
Liverpool then head to the Etihad Stadium for what could be a decisive clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
