Live TV scares as CBS Los Angeles weatherman passes out and collapses during broadcast

It was a heartbreaking moment of live television on Saturday when a CBS Los Angeles (KCAL) meteorologist passed out and collapsed during a morning newscast.

“KCAL News meteorologist Alissa Carlson was about to start her weather forecast this morning when she passed out,” CBS Los Angeles said in an update Saturday. “Our team stepped in to help and comfort her while waiting for medical help to arrive.”

In the Saturday morning newscast video, co-anchors Rachel Kim and Nichelle Medina turned to Carlson for an update on the weather.

“Who’s ready for some sunshine?” I know I am. Let’s start by checking your next weather with meteorologist Alyssa Carlson. She joins us live in the studio,” says Medina.

As Medina continues to speak, viewers see Carlson’s eyes roll at the back of her head before she collapses and collapses.

Kim let out a worried “Oh” before Medina said they were going to take a break.

Following the incident, KCAL posted on Twitter that Carlson is “resting and recovering now.”

Carlson posted on his own Facebook to thank people for “all the texts, calls and well wishes”.

” I’m doing well ! ” she wrote.

The news station and Carlson did not release any details about why Carlson passed out.

KCAL said the meteorologist would return to work “as soon as she is well enough to return”.

This isn’t the first time Carlson has fallen ill on air.

The meteorologist, who previously worked for NBC affiliate KGET, threw up during a newscast in 2014, she said.

Carlson thought she had flu symptoms, but a doctor later told her she had a leaky heart valve.

“So I went to the doctor and they were like ‘have you ever thought about having heart disease?’ And I said “Are you kidding me? No, I’m way too young for that and I’m very healthy.”

Carlson said stem cells from her pregnancy with her daughter began to repair her leaky heart valve.

“My baby’s stem cells had started to heal my heart,” Carlson said in tears. “I feel like I owe it to people and everyone and to God, to give back and spread the story and help people realize that you can have something that you don’t even know what you have.”

It’s unclear if Carlson is still suffering from the leaky heart valve or if it was related to his collapse in Saturday’s incident.
