Liam Broady joked that his Jack Grealish hairstyle helped him in his first round win at Wimbledon on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old was one of several Britons to pick up wins on the opening two days at SW19.
He beat qualifier Lukas Klein 4-6 6-3 7-5 6-7(2) 6-3 on court 17 to reach the second round for only the third time.
Next up is a tough encounter with Diego Schwartzman for a third-round berth.
When asked if his celebrations were a bit like Erling Haaland, the Man City fan pointed to his long hair and sideburns and said: “A bit of the Jack Grealish I guess – just for a little fun .”
With Cameron Norrie in the top 10, other impressives on the grass season like Jack Draper and Ryan Peniston, and Paul Jubb taking Nick Kyrgios in five sets at Wimbledon, it’s a crop of British players brimming with talent.
He said: “The culture at LTA has changed for me.
“The practice involves everyone and everyone gets to know each other. I will have humdingers against Paul Jubb and Andy Murray and Jack Draper will have great practices.

“When I was 18, I was just training with 18-year-olds. A big part of that is getting acclimated to professional tennis.
He continued: “It’s a bit like Pep Guardiola at Man City with the youth system.
“Young players have to be good enough to seize those opportunities – it’s not like any of those top players would kick with a 14-year-old who can barely hold the ball.
“They’re not going to do that if they can’t have a good session.
When asked who the Phil Foden of the band was, Broady laughed and said, “I’m from Stockport…I’m just not that young. I also have a wand from a left ankle.
“Right now it must be Drapes, mustn’t it, Jack.” He is doing wonderfully.
“The way he came over the last year, he was the one you would have said was a bit of a mercurial talent.”
